After a four-day All-Star break, the Royals will begin the second half Friday night vs. Texas to kickoff a 10-game homestand. They are 44–43, 3.0 games behind Cleveland (47–40) in the American League Central division and 1.5 games behind New York (45–41) and Tampa Bay (47–43) in the Wild Card race.

Kansas City has had much success in the second half since 2013, going 163–125 (.566) during that time. Their 163 wins lead American League teams and trail only the Dodgers (166) for the Major League lead.
