The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has signed right-handed pitcher Scott Barlow to a one-year contract. Consistent with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Barlow, 24, went 7–6 in 2017 with a 3.29 ERA (51 ER in 139.2 IP) and 160 strikeouts in 26 starts between Oklahoma City (AAA) and Tulsa (AA) with the Dodgers’ organization. He recorded three double-digit strikeout games with Tulsa and ranked tied for fifth in the Texas league with 124 strikeouts in 107.1 innings (10.4 K/9). The Texas League postseason All-Star had a 2.10 ERA (25 ER in 107.1 IP) with the Drillers that would have led the league, but he fell five innings shy of qualifying.

Barlow was selected by Los Angeles in the sixth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, Calif. In 109 career appearances (103 starts), Barlow is 29–30 with a 4.16 ERA and 497 strikeouts in 530 innings.

The Royals’ Major League Reserve List is now at 39.
