Royals designated hitter Billy Butler and his wife Katie have been involved in work at St. James Place Food Pantry and the Bishop Sullivan Center since 2008. On Thursday, pitcher Aaron Crow joined Billy and Katie at St. James Place, where they packaged and distributed food, including Billy’s barbecue sauce. Billy and Katie’s “Hit-It-A-Ton” program has raised over a quarter of a million dollars to help local families.
On Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Royals players will be signing autographs at Hy-Vee locations in Gladstone, Lee’s Summit, and Overland Park as part of the 27th Annual Royals Wives Food Drive. Participating players will sign autographs for a $5 donation or five cans of food. The locations and players are as follows:
Gladstone (7117 N. Prospect): David DeJesus and Ron Mahay
Lee’s Summit (310 SW Ward Road): Billy Butler and Mark Teahen
Overland Park (8900 W. 135th Street): Willie Bloomquist and Mitch Maier
All donations go to St. James Place food pantry and its sister site, the Bishop Sullivan Center. Come on out to get your groceries and meet a few Royals before heading out to Kauffman for Salute to the Negro Leagues Day and the Monarchs jersey giveaway!
