Going to Kansas City, Kansas City here we come!

Opening Day is on April 5, one week from today! The first of two equipment trucks departs this afternoon for the trip back to Kansas City. Players, coaches and staff members sent equipment and supplies on the truck. ATH can confirm that Denny Matthews’ apple box made it through another Spring Training. The apple box has made over 20 roundtrips, both to Florida and now Arizona. It’s just like a tree, only you count the rings of tape to determine the number of years!
Royals and 610 Sports Radio add three Spring Training broadcasts
The Kansas City Royals and 610 Sports Radio today announced three additional radio broadcasts for 2010 Spring Training:
Friday, March 19 at Arizona (3:05 p.m. CDT)
Thursday, March 25 vs. Seattle (3:05 p.m. CDT)
Saturday, March 27 vs. Oakland (3:05 p.m. CDT)
The Royals and Entercom-Kansas City will announce one additional spring broadcast in the coming days. All Spring Training contests will be webcast on royals.com, including the games not on 610 Sports Radio.

The Royals are gearing up for the spring slate with a pair of intrasquad games. Tuesday’s highlights included David DeJesus going 3-for-3, Rick Ankiel hitting two home runs and Aaron Crow throwing two scoreless frames. Here are some photos:

Spring Training is officially underway!
The Royals held their first official workout today! While only pitchers and catchers are required to be in attendance, nearly the entire squad is in place. Here are a few phone photos. The first team stretch is on the left. On the right, we take a look at John Wathan hitting grounders to the pitchers. Royals Spring Training tickets on sale Saturday
Kansas City Royals 2010 Spring Training tickets will go on sale this Saturday, January 9 at 8 a.m. Central Time. Tickets will be available through the Royals website, www.royals.com/springtraining, in person at the Surprise (Ariz.) Stadium Box Office or by phone at 800-745-3000. Spring season ticket packages are available now by calling 623-222-2222.
Kansas City’s 31-game Spring Training schedule features 15 home games at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Ariz. The club will also face the Texas Rangers as the visiting team in one additional game at the facility.
Several season tickets package options are available, including a 15-game Royals package, a 7-game Royals package and a 29-game Surprise Stadium package for all Royals/Rangers home games. Royals season ticket packages (7 and 15-game) range from $84 to $285 while the 29-game packages are available from $348 to $551.
Ticket prices for the 2010 Spring Training season are: $23 for lower dugout seats, $20 for upper dugout seats, $17 for infield seats, $13 for plaza seats and $7 for lawn seating. Parking for all Surprise Stadium Spring Training games will be free.

Royals pitchers and catchers will report to Surprise on Wednesday, February 17. Workouts for pitchers begin the following day, Thursday, February 18. The remainder of the squad will report on Monday, February 22 and begin workouts for the 2010 campaign on Tuesday, February 23.
Royals announce 2010 Spring Training schedule
Spring Training is just around the corner…pitchers and catchers report on February 17 – less than three months from now!
The Royals announced their 2010 Spring Training schedule today. The club will open its eighth season as members of the newly-expanded 15-team Cactus League by playing a charity game against its Surprise complex mates, the Texas Rangers, on Thursday, March 4. The game benefits the Surprise Sundancers.
Kansas City’s 31-game Spring Training schedule features 15 home games at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Ariz., including the March 4 charity game. The club will also face the Texas Rangers as the visiting team in one additional game at the facility.
The slate includes a road affair against the newest member of the Cactus League, the Cincinnati Reds, who will join their cross-state rival Cleveland Indians at the complex in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Royals will host every Cactus League squad at Surprise Stadium at least once with the exception of the Reds. The March 30 home game against the Indians is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. (CT). In addition, the Royals will play a 9:05 p.m. (CT) contest on March 15 in Glendale against the White Sox. All other games will start at 2:05 p.m. (CT) until Daylight Saving Time on March 14 when the games will start at 3:05 p.m. (CT). The April 1 game against the Diamondbacks will begin at 2:05 p.m. (CT) as the Royals will break camp immediately following the contest.
The Royals will conclude their 2009 Spring Training schedule by traveling to Texas to meet the Rangers for a pair of exhibition games. The clubs will play at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Friday, April 2 at 7:05 p.m. (CT) and then travel on Saturday, April 3 to the Rangers’ Double-A ballpark in Frisco, Texas, for a 1:05 p.m. (CT) start. The Royals will not play on Sunday, April 4 before opening the season at Kauffman Stadium on Monday, April 5 against the Detroit Tigers.
