The newest issue of Royals Gameday Magazine is available at Kauffman Stadium merchandise locations. Here’s a pic of the cover with Willie Bloomquist. He’s not the only versatile player featured – Chone Figgins, playing tonight for the Angels, is our opponent player. Also be sure to check out our Road City – Tampa/St. Petersburg…and see what we list as the Top 10 Strange Baseball Injuries…all in this month’s edition!
The cover story is timely – Zack Greinke and Gil Meche. We would like to state that we planned this issue (and took the cover photo) in Spring Training, well before Zack became the national media darling. David Boyce takes a look inside the dynamic 1-2 pitching duo.
We also profile Royals starter Kyle Davies this month. Kyle is an avid reader. Can you guess the author of the book he just finished? We’ll just say that this well-known businessperson has visited Kauffman Stadium. You can find the answer on page 34.
The Royals are playing a young Baltimore team this weekend. If you need to brush up on the O’s roster, we’re here to help with a story on their star in the making – center fielder Adam Jones. He enters Thursday’s game third in the American League in batting average at .370 and first in runs with 35.
Each month we highlight an upcoming road city. This month, we’re going north of the border to Toronto. If you’re thinking about a trip to see the Royals play the Jays from June 5-7, we have the must-see sites!
That’s just a sampling of our Royals Gameday Magazine for June…and here’s the best news: We’re kicking things off with a special Buck Night magazine deal on Friday, May 15. Gamedays are just $1, all night long! That’s right, come out to see Zack pitch and buy the latest Gameday, with Zack and Gil on the cover, for just $1!
Back on February 13, we told you about the Royals page on Facebook. We had a few hundred Facebook fans at that point. Needless to say, you found us! Three months later, we’re at 59,226 fans (and counting!!!) Way to go, Royals fans! Many of our ATH readers now see the posts on Facebook first. That’s great, just remember to stop by and pay us a visit from time to time at http://royals.mlblogs.com/!
In March, ATH joined other MLBlogs on Twitter. Our ‘tweets’ range from links to our posts to the lineup to the latest Sonic Steal a Slush…check us out at aroundthehornkc! The Royals marketing department also has a Twitter page at KC_Royals. They do a great job of keeping everyone updated on the latest promotions and events at the stadium.
Twitter is a random site…you never know who will start following you. A few days ago, Royals prospect Chris ‘Disco’ Hayes started following us at aroundthehornkc. We returned the favor (his handle is discohayes). We interviewed Chris for Royals Gameday Magazine during Spring Training. He has a great personality, which you can learn more about in the new gameday which goes on sale TONIGHT at the stadium!
Chris is one of our fellow bloggers on mlblogs.com (http://discohayes.mlblogs.com/). We told him about the MLBlog rankings during our interview. It seems to have hit a competitive nerve as he has mentioned it in a few recent posts!
