Frank_White-02.JPGHappy Thanksgiving from Around the Horn in KC!  The Royals are involved in several community events this holiday season.  Last week, associates from the office joined Alex Gordon, Frank White and Frank’s wife Teresa to serve a Thanksgiving feast at the Men’s Center of KC’s City Union Mission.  Kristin and Mack Norman, wife and son of alum Les Norman, led a second group at City Union Mission’s Family Center.

Today, a contingent will help serve a Thanksgiving lunch at the Guadalupe Center.  Next week, another team will be assisting shoppers at the Johnson County Christmas Bureau Holiday Shop.  Here are a few pictures from the City Union Mission meal and links to these local organizations, where you can find out more about volunteer opportunities.

City Union Mission Frank 2.jpgAs the holiday season gets underway, we would like to recognize members of the Royals family who recently served a Thanksgiving meal at the City Union Mission.  Royals Hall of Famer Frank White, outfielder David DeJesus and former outfielder Les Norman were joined by Royals associates on November 11 at the Mission’s two locations.

City Union Mission DeJesus 2.jpgThe City Union Mission has provided warm beds, nutritious food and a safe place for thousands of poverty stricken and homeless men, women and children in the Kansas City area.  The Christian ministry receives no government support, but rather relies solely on support from individuals, churches, foundations, organizations and businesses.  Both of their locations are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  If you would like to help the City Union Mission, please visit http://www.cumission.org/ .

Royals in the community: City Union Mission

Frank_White.jpgOn Friday, front office associates joined Royals Hall of Fame second baseman Frank White, outfielder David DeJesus, GM Dayton Moore and Senior Vice President-Business Operations Kevin Uhlich to serve a Thanksgiving feast at City Union Mission’s two area facilities. This is the third straight year that the Royals have partnered with the mission.

Founded in 1924, City Union Mission has provided warm beds, nutritious food and a safe place for thousands of poverty stricken and homeless men, women and children in the Kansas City area. The facilities rely solely on support from individuals, churches, foundations, organizations and businesses.
