Ned Yost media session: April 18, 2014

With Jarrod Dyson placed on the bereavement list Friday, Royals manager Ned Yost will be without two of his center fielders this weekend against the Minnesota Twins. Justin Maxwell will start tonight in center for Yost, who said it’s difficult for a guy like Maxwell only playing once a week so this will be a good opportunity for him. Yost was asked about Nori Aoki in center but said he likes the way Aoki is playing in right field and does not want to me alter that situation.

Kansas City hosts Minnesota just four days after getting swept at Target Field and Yost thinks this weekend is a chance for the Royals to “redeem themselves” following their play in that series.

Yost was asked pregame about Billy Butler’s struggles and answered by saying “Billy’s not a machine. This stuff happens to everyone.” He is confident that it is just a matter of time before Butler’s numbers improve.
