Ned Yost media session: September 5, 2013

KC has hit the midpoint of the homestand as a four-game series with Seattle wraps up today at 1:10.

Manager Ned Yost was asked about Lorenzo Cain, who was activated before last night’s game.  Yost said that Cain is available as a pinch runner or on defense, though the club is shying away from the hitting aspect.  Cain has hit in the cage and worked on soft toss drills, however he is a few days away from full batting practice.

Another question was about the Royals tying a club record for a nine-inning game with eight pitchers last night.  Yost said that the club looked to maximize the matchups.
