Ned Yost media session: August 26, 2013
The Royals skipper met with the media in his office this morning before the makeup game vs. Tampa Bay. Ned Yost was asked about the long stretch of games they are playing and also the hot temperatures that his club has had to contend with. “Both clubs have to deal with it. The trainers and the conditioning staff do a great job making sure that everyone stays hydrated. You just have to go play the game. It’s not easy. It is smoking hot out there. We haven’t had a break in long time but these guys are geared for playing through this.” The manager went on to say, “It makes it a little easier when you can find times to give them a break and get them off the field for batting practice instead of using that energy they are going to need in the eighth and ninth inning. You try to conserve as much as you can for the games.”
Luke Hochevar will again miss today’s game since his wife and he welcomed a new little baby into their family. Her name is Lucy and the skipper said that everyone is doing great.
