Coach Ken Carter throws out ceremonial first pitch

Ken Carter, the inspiration for the 2005 movie Coach Carter, threw out a ceremonial first pitch before tonight’s game.  Coach Carter is a supporter of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.  Tonight is the annual “Salute to the Negro Leagues”.  The Royals are wearing uniforms patterned after the 1942 Kansas City Monarchs, while Washington has donned the classic 1942 Homestead Grays look.  The Monarchs and Grays faced off in the 1942 Negro Leagues World Series.

Carter is pictured with:  Jamey Carroll, Jarrod Dyson, James Shields, Bruce Chen, Salvador Perez, Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas.  Thanks for taking part in this year’s tribute, Coach Carter!
