Davis steps away from Royals broadcasts
Broadcaster Bob Davis is stepping away after 16 seasons in the Royals broadcast booth. Davis will continue in his role as the voice of the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball and football teams, a post he has held for 29 years.
On a personal note, I’ll miss his great stories away from the microphone. Bob is one year older than my Dad, so I could always relate to his radio show references (The Green Hornet, The Lone Ranger, etc.).
Bob would join the team for spring training after his KU basketball duties were done for the season. I was his driver from the Phoenix airport to Surprise on a few of these occasions. He was always upbeat, even when his beloved Jayhawks had just suffered a tough defeat in the NCAA Tournament.
Best wishes Bob, we look forward to seeing you around The K!
