Ervin Santana introduced to KC media
Newly acquired Royals starter Ervin Santana met with the media on Monday afternoon. He feels great and can’t wait until spring training. The righty is looking forward to playing with the young and talented Royals team.
Santana was born Johan Ramon Santana. Today, he explained his name change. He saw one of his early baseball cards while in the minor leagues and it read “from Venezuela”. The Royals pitcher is from the Dominican Republic, not Venezuela, home to Mets pitcher Johan Santana. Thus, the younger hurler changed his name to Ervin…and avoided confusion in the process!
