Ned Yost media session: September 1

The two September call-ups that brought up catcher Manuel Pina from Double-A Northwest Arkansas and outfielder David Lough from Triple-A Omaha was the main topic of discussion when manager Ned Yost met with the media this afternoon.  Yost said they needed another catcher and outfielder and those two were on the 40-man roster. He went on to say they need the extra outfielder with Jarrod Dyson having lat muscle issues and they want to take a look at Lough.  He (Lough) was an integral part with Omaha and their current playoff run, but Yost said Lough has been working hard and has put in his time so they want to give him a shot with the big league club for the last month and once again reiterated Dyson’s injury was also a reason.  Yost said they may bring up some pitching as September progresses, but right now they are just fine in that department, even with today’s scheduled doubleheader.  He said they have plenty of guys in the bullpen who are fresh and have not thrown in a while so they are just fine without bringing up any pitching right now.
