VOTE BROXTON & BRAVES!
The Royals have joined forces with the Atlanta Braves in an All-Star Game Final Vote push. Royals fans are encouraged to vote for third baseman Chipper Jones and outfielder Michael Bourn to fill the remaining National League roster spot with an Atlanta Brave by visiting www.mlb.com/vote.
Jones, a seven-time All-Star who has announced plans to retire following the 2012 season, has played in every Major League city during his illustrious career except for Kansas City. It would be a fitting tribute to have Jones make his final All-Star appearance at Kauffman Stadium.
Bourn, a speedy outfielder in his first full season with the Braves, won consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Awards in 2009 and 2010 and represented the Houston Astros as a National League All-Star in 2010. He has also led the N.L. in stolen bases in each of the last three seasons.
In return, Braves fans are encouraged to vote for Broxton, a Georgia native.
Broxton is competing with four other right-handed pitchers – Yu Darvish from the Texas Rangers, Ernesto Frieri from the Los Angeles Angels, Jason Hammel from the Baltimore Orioles and Jake Peavy from the Chicago White Sox – for the final roster spot.
The winner, chosen exclusively by online fan voting totals, will be announced on MLB.com shortly after voting concludes on Thursday.
Fans participating in the Final Vote will also enjoy a special offer from MLB.TV. Voters who are not currently subscribed to MLB.TV or MLB.TV Premium will be offered the opportunity to receive up to 14 days of 2012 MLB.TV from Friday, July 6 to Friday, July 20. Current subscribers will receive a 15 percent discount to the MLB.com Shop. MLB.com will send an email on Friday to all eligible Final Vote voters with instructions on how to redeem to applicable offer.
