Great show tonite( 1-5-2012) Two questions – do the Royals try and connect young players like Salvador Perez with legends such as Yogi Berra, Johnny Bench, Pudge Rodriguez and mentors like John Wathan and Mike Scosia to get their unique perspectives on the game at their shared positions? Also, do the Royals ever take a team trip to Cooperstown and the NegroBaseball League to further their appreciation of the players that caame before them in their pursit of baseball excellence? Thanks – Marty

Good to hear that you enjoyed the show.

To answer your first question – yes, the Royals look to connect young players with past players. Each year at Spring Training, several Royals Alumni spend a week working with the minor league players.

To answer your second question – each year, the Royals have “Futures Night”, which honors the Player/Pitcher of the Year from each minor league club. The players spend a few days in Kansas City and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is one of the highlights of their visit.
