Homestand Highlights: July 7 – 10

The Kansas City Royals celebrate the past and the future with two special events scheduled during the club’s upcoming four-game series with the Detroit Tigers, July 7-10.

The club remembers a Kansas City and baseball legend with a special Buck O’Neil Centennial Celebration on Saturday, July 9.  As part of the festivities, the first 20,000 fans receive a commemorative Buck O’Neil Centennial Celebration pennant featuring the Kansas City Monarchs presented by Sprint. In addition, there will be special tributes to O’Neil during the pregame ceremony and throughout the game.

The Royals then celebrate all young Royals fans and kids at heart with KidsFest on Sunday, July 10.  Gates to the ballpark will open at 11:30 a.m., and festivities are set to include a Kids Superhero Cape giveaway, an Autograph Afternoon with select former Royals, and a pregame concert by Brendan Parker – the performer of “Spaghetti Eddie!” and other children’s songs.

In addition, the homestand features a number of fan-favorites such as an All You Can Eat Seats promotion, Buck Night, Fireworks Friday and the Sprint Fun Run.

GATE TIME CHANGES: Please note that Kauffman Stadium Gates A and E will open 90 minutes prior to game time for Monday-Thursday home games beginning with the upcoming homestand, allowing fans more time to enjoy the Outfield Experience and view batting practice from the outfield seating areas.  All other gates will open one hour prior to game time for Monday-Thursday home games.

The Royals will continue to open all gates 90 minutes prior to game time for all Friday-Sunday home games.
