Ned Yost media session: Hosmer’s development
Before Sunday’s 1:10 series finale against the Minnesota Twins, Royals manager Ned Yost talked about the development of rookie first basemen Eric Hosmer.
Yost said he has been impressed with Hosmer’s adjustments and noted that his young first basemen is well on his way to becoming a special Major League player.
“He’s right on track, right on schedule, doing fine,” Yost said. “He’s smart, he doesn’t have any gaping holes and he makes adjustments.”
The skipper said Hosmer’s makeup is a key component to the 21-year-old’s success.
“He’s got great confidence in his abilities, he’s got a great game plan and he’s got the composure to go out and execute,” Yost said.
Entering Sunday’s contest, Hosmer has 11 RBI in his last nine games and has hit in six straight with a .423 batting average (11-for-26) during that span.
