Ned Yost media session: April 29

Coming off a disappointing 0-6 road trip, Royals manager Ned Yost said the team is glad to be back playing in front of a home crowd when he met with the media Friday afternoon. Yost expressed that baseball is a game of streaks and that each Major League team will face this sort of adversity at some point during the season. The Royals look to snap the recent skid in Friday’s 7:10 matchup against the Minnesota Twins at Kauffman Stadium.

“You go through things like that over the course of the year,” Yost said. “The thing that is important is when you’re having your good streaks, you don’t all get fired up, you don’t get all excited. You just stay steady, and [do] the same thing when you’re struggling a little bit. You continue to work your way out of it.”

The skipper noted that it is important for his players to relax, letting their natural ability take over. He expects his squad to battle out of the recent skid and expressed that morale remains high in the clubhouse.

Left-hander Bruce Chen toes the rubber Friday night in search of his team-leading fourth victory of the season. Yost said that Chen brings experience and can help the Royals return to the win column if he keeps the ball down and effectively changes speeds and arm angles.
