Homestand Highlights: April 29 – May 8

Kauffman Stadium will be the site of a number of special events – Faith & Family Day, School Day at The K and a special Salute to the Kansas City A’s – as the Royals return for a nine-game homestand, April 29-May 8.  The upcoming homestand also features fan favorites such as Buck Night, Fireworks Friday and live entertainment for the entire family.  In addition, fans can celebrate Mother’s Day with the Royals by treating mom to a ladies tote bag and afternoon at the ballpark.

Friday, April 29 – Minnesota Twins vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

·         Hy-Vee/Pepsi Fireworks Fridays – A spectacular fireworks show after every Friday home game.

Faith & Family Day – The annual Faith & Family Day celebration features “The Rookie” Jim Morris, whose meteoric rise from a 35-year-old high school teacher to a flame-throwing big league pitcher made cinematic history in Disney’s “The Rookie” starring Dennis Quaid.  Morris now draws on his own life experience to inspire others to become leaders and mentors in life and business.  The event, hosted by KCTV5 Chief Meteorologist Katie Horner, takes place inside Kauffman Stadium following the Twins-Royals game.  A game ticket is required for admittance.  Faith Day fans may purchase a Field Box or Field Plaza ticket for $15 or a Hy-Vee Reserved Box, Hy-Vee Infield or Hy-Vee Box ticket for only $10.  Tickets For details, visit www.royals.com/faith.
·         Family FunDay Sunday – New in 2011!  Each Sunday home game includes face painters, balloon artists and live family-friendly entertainment in the Outfield Experience.  Fans can also enjoy the All-Day Play Pass for unlimited activities in the Outfield Experience for just $10. www.royals.com/sunday.

·         Fun Run presented by Sprint – All fans can run the bases following the Faith & Family Day festivities (conditions permitting).  Please note that fans who prefer not to wait until the conclusion of Faith & Family Day may run the bases immediately after the game at the U.S. Toy Little K.

INK Student Night – Rivals Outfield Box or Hy-Vee Infield tickets are available for all Wednesday home games for high school and college students with valid ID at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office for just $7.  Seating is subject to availability.  New in 2011, all Student Nights will feature live local music prior to the game in the Outfield Experience.  All Student Nights also include a $7 hot dog and beverage special at the Crown Classic concession stand in the Outfield Experience prior to the game.  For details, visit www.royals.com/studentnight.

Saturday, May 7 – Oakland A’s vs. Royals presented by Sprint, 6:10 p.m.

·         Retro KC Cap – The first 20,000 fans will receive a red, white and blue retro KC cap courtesy of Sprint.  The cap features in interlocking KC logo that was used by the A’s in Kansas City prior to moving to Oakland. 

·         Salute to the Kansas City A’s – The Royals will salute the Kansas City A’s by recognizing several former Kansas City A’s players – including pitchers Bill Fischer, Lew Krausse and Diego Segui – during a special pregame ceremony.  In salute to Charlie O., the famous Missouri mule which Finley anointed as the team mascot while in Kansas City, fans will have an opportunity to take their photo with a Missouri mule outfitted with Charlie O.’s original blanket behind Rivals Sports Bar.
