Royals Celebrity Golf Tournament set for May 2

A limited number of spots remain for the fourth annual Royals Celebrity Golf Tournament set for Monday, May 2 at The National Golf Club of Kansas City in Parkville, Mo.  The popular Royals Charities event will match current players and alumni with participants in an 18-hole golf tournament.  Sprint serves as a presenting sponsor of the tournament, and all proceeds will again benefit the Special Olympics of Greater Kansas City Metro.

The Royals Celebrity Golf Tournament will begin with registration, breakfast, silent auction and driving range accessibility at 7:30 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start.  Lunch will be served on the course by Jose Pepper’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Sheridan’s and Jack Gage American Tavern. 

Following the tournament, Royals Charities will host a reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks, the Lexus Awards Program and the Pepsi Silent Auction.  There will also be a live auction featuring items such as one-hour private hitting lessons with Billy Butler, the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to a Royals home game, and a trip for two to the 2011 Lexus Champions for Charity National Championship in Pebble Beach, Calif., scheduled for December 7-11, 2011.

All golf packages include:

Special Olympics Kansas City Metro is a joint effort of the Missouri and Kansas chapters of Special Olympics.  Combined, the two chapters serve more than 3,200 athletes in a 10-county region, providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  The organization gives athletes opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, fellow Special Olympics athletes and the community.
