Spring Training: Tuesday in photos

Team photographer Chris Vleisides sent along some photos – we’ll share a few as Chris prepares for the annual “Photo Day” on Wednesday.  Photographers from various media outlets will be on hand…the photos that you’ll see on Crown Vision, in the yearbook and on baseball cards will be taken.  Let’s take a look at today’s pics.  First, newly acquired righty Jeremy Jeffress was on the mound.  Take a good look at it – because if you stepped in the box against Jeffress, you would hear the ball but you may not see it.  He has a power curve and a fastball that tops 100 mph!

Fellow 20-year old Salvador Perez has drawn rave reviews for his catching prowess this spring.  Perez won the organization’s Frank White Defensive Player of the Year award in 2009.

New teammates Lorenzo Cain and Jarrod Dyson compared notes as Hall of Famer George Brett watched batting practice.

Below, we take a look at new shortstop Alcides Escobar in Royal blue…followed by Mike Moustakas.

@HoltzyKC reported the following on Twitter:

“Want to know why Moustakas has a chance to be special? Running through fundamental drills and he is asking tons of questions to get better.”

We second that – photographer Chris witnessed the power hitter working on bunting and seeking advice from eight-time Gold Glove winner Frank White.

And who better to “close” out this photo post than two-time All-Star reliever Joakim Soria?
