Around the World with ATH in KC: Australia and Greece
Today on Around the World with Around the Horn, we travel abroad with a Royals fan from Australia and meet a fan who visited Greece!
First, meet Jason from Sydney, Australia, who became a Royals fan when he watched Game 6 of the 1985 World Series. It was a replay at 3 a.m. in Australia! He has since become a regular at Royals Fantasy Camp in Arizona, where he met childhood heroes, including George Brett, Frank White and Willie Wilson. The first photo is Jason at Fitzroy Falls, which is about two hours south of Sydney.
Jason also mentioned that his thoughts are with all of the people that have been impacted by the flooding in Queensland. He recently attended an Australian Baseball League game and won a raffle that supported the flood victims. The prize for this Kansas City fan – a jersey signed by former Royal and fellow Australian Justin Huber!
Next, meet Robbie, who traveled to Athens, Greece in March, 2010. He visited the Parthenon on top of the Acropolis in Athens. He also sported his KC hat as he checked out Filopappos Hill in Athens (below). The Aegean Sea is in the distance – what a view!
Please keep sharing your Royals-related travel stories and pictures from spring training, road games and places around the world…you can e-mail us at blog@royals.com. Again, your chances of making the blog are significantly higher if you’re sporting team gear!
