Photos: The University of Kansas Hospital becomes the official medical provider of the Royals
On Tuesday, the Royals and The University of Kansas Hospital announced the hospital would become the official medical provider for the team.
Under the agreement, The University of Kansas Hospital and its partner, The University of Kansas Physicians, have already begun to provide medical services to the team beginning with player examinations and will be with the team at spring training beginning in February. Vincent Key, MD, orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, will serve as primary team physician, leading a team of physicians providing care ranging from physical assessments at spring training to on-site attendance at every home game.
The hospital and the Royals will conduct three Health Awareness Days at Kauffman Stadium as well as VIP Patient Days and provide first aid for fans at every home game along with other events scheduled at Kauffman Stadium. In addition, the hospital will have marketing opportunities at the stadium. The Royals will conduct several on-site visits to The University of Kansas Hospital featuring players, alumni, Sluggerrr and front office personnel.
Both organizations also will join together in future charitable events.
