Royals designate Lance Zawadzki for assignment, add Melky Cabrera to 40-man
The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has designated infielder Lance Zawadzki for assignment. The move comes as the Royals signing of outfielder Melky Cabrera was officially confirmed by Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association. Cabrera will wear uniform number 53 with Kansas City. The roster currently stands at 40.
Zawadzki, 25, was claimed by the Royals on outright waivers from the San Diego Padres on November 5.
