Vote Soria!
The nominations for MLB.com’s “This Year in Baseball” awards have been announced. Kansas City closer Joakim Soria is up for two MLB-wide awards: “Closer of the Year” and “Dependable Player of the Year”.
Soria was dominant in 2010, posting a 1.78 ERA while converting 43 of 46 save chances. The 43 saves rank fourth in club history. Soria made his second A.L. All-Star team and converted 36 save opportunities in a row at one point, topping Jeff Montgomery’s previous club record of 24 straight. He also joined Dan Quisenberry as the only Royals with two seasons of 40+ saves.
