Mechanical matters

When asked what he thought about tonight’s starter, Sean O’Sullivan, making progress this season, Yost said it’s hard to judge the progress of a kid like O’Sullivan because he’s trying to make his mark in the big leagues. Yost also said the pitcher needs to continue working on keeping the ball down consistently, which is a struggle due to his mechanics. He added that while O’Sullivan is working on his mechanical issues, it’s still hard for him to make adjustments because he can’t think about them on the mound while he’s trying to win ballgames.

Battle at the bottom

Yost said he definitely doesn’t want to finish in last place in the division, but he finds the “battle” for fourth place between Kansas City and Cleveland a little odd because finishing second-to-last isn’t where he’d like to be either. 

Healthy Hochevar

According to Yost, Luke Hochevar has been throwing alright, though his command has been off a bit and the pitcher still isn’t where he was before his injury. Yost’s focus, however, is on keeping Hochevar healthy, so he is strong and ready for next year.
