The Royals have traded utility man Willie Bloomquist to the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named or cash considerations.
The 32-year-old Bloomquist was hitting .265 in 72 games for the Royals with 10 doubles, a triple, three home runs, 17 RBI, 31 runs scored and eighth stolen bases in 13 attempts. He signed a two-year contract with Kansas City prior to the 2009 season.
