Alex Gordon recalled from Omaha, David DeJesus placed on 15-day D.L.
The Royals have placed outfielder David DeJesus on the 15-day Disabled List with a right thumb sprain and recalled outfielder Alex Gordon from Triple-A Omaha. Gordon is expected to be in uniform for tonight’s game in New York against the Yankees.
Gordon, 26, was hitting .315 (82-for-260) with 20 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, 44 RBI and 59 runs scored in 68 games for Omaha and was recently a Pacific Coast League All-Star. He also played seven games in a rehab assignment to begin the season with High A Wilmington, batting .235 with three doubles and nine walks in 7 games. The converted third baseman hit .194 (6-for-31) with a double, home run, RBI and 5 runs scored in 12 games for the Royals prior to being optioned to Omaha following the Royals’ May 2 game at Tampa Bay.
