Royals in the Community: May 11-16
The Royals return home for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday, May 11 that features a three-game series versus the Cleveland Indians (May 11-13) followed by a three-game weekend set against the Chicago White Sox (May 14-16). Below is a listing of the club’s community efforts during the upcoming homestand.
Tuesday, May 11 – Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

Dream Factory – Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout, and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

Friday, May 14 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.
Royals Support Hy-Vee Food Drive – Select Royals will sign autographs for fans who donate $5 or five cans of food from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Independence Hy-Vee (4545 Noland Rd.) and Raytown Hy-Vee (9400 E. 350 Hwy.) locations in support of the Hy-Vee Food Drive to benefit the Bishop Sullivan Center food pantry. The event precedes the annual Royals Wives Food Drive, which is scheduled for June 4-6.
50/50 Friday – A new fundraiser from Royals Charities in which a lucky fan can win big! Volunteers will sell $1 raffle tickets throughout Kauffman Stadium from the time gates open until the end of the fifth inning. One winning ticket will be selected with the winner taking home half of the evening’s net proceeds. The other half will be divided between Royals Charities and the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City. For more information, visit www.royals.com/5050.
Girls Night Out presented by Celsius Tannery – Grab your girlfriends and come out to the first Girls Night Out event of 2010, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Kansas City. The first 10,000 females through the gates will receive a Royals t-shirt courtesy of Celsius Tannery. Saturday, May 15 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.
Operation Blessing – The Royals join forces with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hy-Vee and Operation Blessing International to feed more than 3,000 needy families in Kansas City. Under the motto “Two Teams: One Goal,” the clubs join more than 200 community volunteers to distribute Operation Blessing’s food and toys to those who need it most. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Hostess Brands lot, located at East 30th St. and Troost Ave. in Kansas City, Mo.
Sunday, May 16 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day – YMCA of Greater Kansas City and Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners team up with the Royals to offer kids and families the opportunity to play fun games together, learn cool exercises and get tips on choosing healthy foods, all while enjoying the fun of Kauffman Stadium. Special activities and information booths to promote a healthy, active lifestyle will be set up in the Outfield Experience beginning at 10 a.m. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is celebrated across the country and is the nation’s largest health day for children and families. As part of the program, the Royals are offering special ticket discounts with a portion of each purchase going to the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. Visit www.royals.com/groups to purchase tickets.
Trevor’s Troopers – Royals Director-Groundskeeping and Landscaping Trevor Vance will host select children who have a parent deployed through the United States military efforts overseas to join the Royals Grounds Crew as part of the Trevor’s Troopers program. The honored kids will help prepare the field prior to the Royals game and will receive game tickets and Royals merchandise.
