Throwing strikes of a different kind (photos)
Kansas City Royals alumni, front office associates and broadcasters participated in the first Winter Gloves for Kids on Thursday at Lucky Strike in the Power and Light District.
The event, presented by Ryan Lefebvre’s Footprints Foundation, raised over $20,000 for the Salvation Army to help provide winter clothes and support for the homeless.
Here is a recap of the night in photos:
First, we look at the bowling form of the infielders. Frank White leads off and you can see why his nickname is “Smooth”. Frank is followed by David Howard and Greg Pryor.
Next, the outfielders. This photo of Willie Wilson reminds us of him gliding into third with a triple. Brian McRae enjoyed bowling with his daughter, Addison.
Pitching and bowling have similarities. Pitchers paint the corner while bowlers need precision to pick up the spare. You can throw it fast or add a little curve. And it’s all about strikes! Royals Hall of Famer Jeff Montgomery was the individual champion for the night. Mike Boddicker and Paul Splittorff also showed their form.
Montgomery also led his team to the championship. The team was captained by Fox Sports Kansas City’s Joel Goldberg, who accepted the ‘traveling trophy’. Thank you to everyone who participated!
