Roster updates: Hulett traded, Pimentel released
The Kansas City Royals traded infielder Tug Hulett to the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday in exchange for a player to be named or cash considerations. Hulett was designated for assignment on November 20.
The 26-year old hit .111 (2-for-18) in 15 games for the Royals in 2009 after being claimed off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on February 19. Hulett also represented the United States in the Baseball World Cup where he homered in the gold medal-winning game against Cuba.
In addition to the Hulett trade, the Royals secured Unconditional Release Waivers on right-handed pitcher Julio Pimentel, who is now a free agent.
