Thanksgiving wishes from the Royals! (photos)
As the holiday season gets underway, we would like to recognize members of the Royals family who recently served a Thanksgiving meal at the City Union Mission. Royals Hall of Famer Frank White, outfielder David DeJesus and former outfielder Les Norman were joined by Royals associates on November 11 at the Mission’s two locations.
White and Norman helped to serve 100 guests at the Mission’s Family Center. DeJesus’ team served meals to 300 guests at the Men’s Center.
The City Union Mission has provided warm beds, nutritious food and a safe place for thousands of poverty stricken and homeless men, women and children in the Kansas City area. The Christian ministry receives no government support, but rather relies solely on support from individuals, churches, foundations, organizations and businesses. Both of their locations are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you would like to help the City Union Mission, please visit http://www.cumission.org/ .
