Saluting Swartz

nick swartz_9757.jpgOn Sunday, the Royals honored head athletic trainer Nick Swartz, who is retiring after 33 years in the organization.  He has been in Kansas City for 21 years (the last 19 as the head trainer) after stops in Sarasota, Ft. Myers, Jacksonville and Omaha.

nick swartz_4192.jpgNick threw a ceremonial first pitch (a strike) to his son, Eric, as all of the Royals players, coaches and support staff looked on.  Swartz is known for his collection of Hawaiian shirts.  The position players gave him a Hawaiian shirt yesterday.  They then explained that he would be vacationing in Hawaii courtesy of them!  The pitching staff presented Nick with a Rolex watch.  FYI, Nick:  Hawaii is four hours behind Kansas City, so set that Rolex accordingly! We wish Nick and wife, CeeCee, the best.  Thank you for your 33 years of dedication and service to the Royals organization!  You will most certainly be missed.
