Billy Butler, A.L. Player of the Week, again!

9-3 Butler.jpgCongratulations to Billy Butler, the American League Player of the Week for September 7-13.

Billy batted .419 (13-31) while leading the Majors with 13 hits and 12 RBI last week.  He tied for the Major League lead with five doubles. 

On September 9, Billy collected three doubles in a game for the fourth time this season.  According to Elias Sports Bureau, he is the first player in the modern era (since 1900) to have four games with three doubles in the same season. 

This is Butler’s second A.L. Player of the Week award this season.  Zack Greinke has also won the award twice in 2009.

Pitcher Kyle Davies received consideration for this week’s award after going 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA.
