Congratulations to Zack and Mitch!
Zack Greinke’s record-setting season continued tonight in a 6-2 Kansas City win as he set a franchise mark with 15 strikeouts, breaking Mark Gubicza’s record of 14 from August 27, 1988. Zack moved all the way from 14th on the single-season franchise list with 182 to fifth with 197. He is one K shy of fourth place (Steve Busby, 198 in 1974) and three strikeouts away from being the fourth pitcher in franchise history to record 200 strikeouts in a season.
Mitch Maier hit his first Major League home run in the seventh inning (304th at-bat). The Michigan native has batted .333 (21-for-63) over his last 22 games.
Congratulations to Zack on the franchise record and to Mitch for hitting his first home run!

Congrats to Zack! Very good performance tonight.
