Billy Butler named AL Player of the Week
Billy Butler is the American League Player of the Week for August 3-9.
Billy led the league with a .538 batting average (14-26), a .962 slugging percentage and a .563 on-base percentage. His 10 RBI tied for the league lead.
Saturday night Billy had a 3-double performance, his second of the season and just the fourth Royal to achieve a pair of 3-double games in a single year (Al Cowens-1977, Willie Aikens-1982 and Mark Grudzielanek-2008).
This makes the second Royals player to receive the honor this year.
Zack Greinke and Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers won the award for the week of April 13-19, 2009.
Congratulations Billy!
