Saturday's Royals game to be televised live on American Forces Network

FOX Sports Kansas City and the Kansas City Royals will give local troops serving overseas a taste of home on Saturday, Aug. 8.

In conjunction with the annual Salute To Uniformed Heroes at Kauffman Stadium, FOX Sports Kansas City will present This One’s For You, a special telecast of Royals baseball recognizing American troops.

On Television

U.S. troops throughout the world will be able to watch the Royals-Oakland A’s game live on the American Forces Network.  At the same time, FOX Sports Kansas City plans to show a live satellite link of the Missouri National Guard Agri-Business Development Team (ADT), currently deployed in Jalalabad in the Nangarhar Province in Afghanistan.  The 58-person ADT includes many members from western Missouri.  They’ll watch the game live at 3 a.m. in Jalalabad.

Interviews with the deployed troops, greetings from the troops’ families, and other graphics and elements will enhance the telecast.  The telecast will also include taped greetings from Royals players and local dignitaries.

At Kauffman Stadium

At Kauffman Stadium, the Royals will recognize American troops during a pregame on-field ceremony and throughout the game on the Crown Vision scoreboard.

Approximately 150 family members and friends of troops in the Missouri National Guard ADT will watch the game from the stands at Kauffman Stadium.  And fans at the ballpark are encouraged to participate by bringing banners and signs which may be shown on television.
