Down a Buck

Royals catcher John Buck will be going on the DL effective immediately.  With a slight herniation in his lower back, there is no telling at this point when he will be back (definitely no pun intended) with the team.  Manager Trey Hillman said, “He is actually at the hospital as we speak (11:15 a.m. today), so we don’t have an update at the moment.”  In his absence, the Royals purchased the contract of catcher Brayan Pena from Triple-A Omaha to fill the roster spot.

Updates

Joakim Soria said he was feeling a little sore after his rehab outing yesterday in Arizona.  A completely normal reaction to pressure being put on the arm, everything is said to be looking good and we can hope to see Soria available Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Coco Crisp is still day-to-day and will be monitored in the next couple of days.
