Trey Hillman Pregame Media Session
Looking good & feeling good
Royals reliever Joakim Soria was said to have thrown the ball very well today and that he feels terrific. Manager Trey Hillman says, “Wednesday we’re looking at about 15 pitches thrown down there in Arizona, and if everything goes well, 20-25 on Saturday. Hillman stated, “He is just doing better all around, both physically and mentally, this time with his injury.” He went on to say that the less people that are watching Soria during his rehab, the better he does. There isn’t that added pressure that he doesn’t take to very well.
Welcome Tug, to the “New” K!
What can we expect from the new call-up Tug Hulett? Manager Trey Hillman, says, “We are getting a ballplayer, someone who hits to contact, plays hard, is a smart base-runner, and can be a very effective situational hitter. He is a smart baseball player who should be able to contribute to our team while he is up here.”
So good to see you, John B.
John Bale had quite the comeback yesterday afternoon against the Cardinals, striking out outfielder Rick Ankiel on three pitches in the seventh and pitching a perfect eighth inning. Manager Hillman was asked if he was surprised by Bale’s performance and if we expect him to be used as a left-handed hitter specialist. His response was, “Did you see the game? If he pitches like that, we’ll pitch him whenever and wherever, he did fantastic.”
