Waiting His Turn to Experience Zack-Mania
Royals fan Richard Gilles has been paying attention. He knew that tonight could be a special night at Kauffman Stadium with Zack Greinke on the mound, a Buck Night and Fireworks Friday. So, he packed his things early, including a lunch and a folding chair, and arrived this morning at Gate E of Kauffman Stadium at 6:42 a.m. When he got there, he was first in line to purchase the $7 Dri-Duck Fountain Seats. The Kansas City, Mo. native told Around The Horn that this wasn’t the first time he waited in line for the Dri-Duck seats, but it definitely was the earliest he’s ever arrived at the stadium.
There were around a hundred fans in line at least 2 hours before the tickets were scheduled to go on sale today. And we want to commend you, Royals fans, as several ushers told ATH that the crowd was very cooperative and in great spirits throughout the day.
ATH note: The DRI-DUCK seats went on sale at 2:50 p.m. today due to the potential for inclement weather in the area and to make sure that all fans were safe. The DRI-DUCK tickets sold out at 3:15 p.m. Scattered single tickets and standing room only tickets remain for tonight’s game.
