Trey Hillman Pregame Media Session
Well deserved
Zack Greinke was named the American League Pitcher of the Month for April. Manager Trey Hillman talked about it being an amazing honor from a statistics standpoint, as well as a great honor for the team. He says he is glad to see Zack get recognized and that it is well deserved. Hillman noted that when everyone is expecting a complete game by your starter, you know he is doing something right.
You can feel it in the air
Manager Hillman says you can just feel the excitement in the air at Kauffman Stadium. From the players to the fans, it is everywhere, the sense that a winner is on the field. The players are feeding off one another, and they are feeding off the excitement in the stands brought on by the fans!
Above average
A reporter asked Hillman about Billy Butler and his rise to become a better than average first baseman. The biggest difference this year from last year with Billy is his mobility. He became motivated in the offseason, worked hard, was hungry to improve his body, and did just that. He now has better awareness in the field and his body movements have improved. This time last year, Hillman didn’t see Billy as an above average first baseman and didn’t really know if he could play the position regularly. Now, he thinks because of his work ethic and ability to change, he is a better than average first baseman.
