DeJesus steps up to plate for Guadalupe Center

Zack Greinke wasn’t the only Royals player to have a big day today — outfielder David DeJesus made a connection with the Kansas City community, too.

DeJesus1.jpgDeJesus has made appearances at various community functions since his arrival in Kansas City in 2003. David and Royals Community Outreach Director Betty Kaegel have worked together in recent months to find a community cause for David to support on a regular basis. Guadalupe Centers, Inc., the longest continually operating organization serving Latinos in the United States found themselves in need of a spokesperson. They found a great one in number nine, who will help an organization founded in nineteen-nineteen celebrate its ninetieth anniversary!

Thanks for sharing the story. It’s good when we hear about the players giving back to the community.

This was an amazing start to our 90th anniversary celebration! The Royals have done so much for our organization and we are very excited to have David DeJesus be a part of our team! We have many events coming up this year where David will be a part of, so stay tuned! http://www.guadalupecenters.org

What a great example David DeJesus sets for his teammates, for the Royals organization! His involvement in this celebration shows the power of collaboration between the community, its non-profit community, and its professional sports teams.

Thanks to David, and thanks to the Royals. April is coming!!

I enjoyed meeting outfielder David DeJesus. He was very impressive as a spokesperson for the Guadalupe Center. I would like to work with David in the future at
upcoming Guadalupe Center events. I look forward
to attending Royals baseball games for the next season!!

Good story. I’d like to see far more examples of our professional athletes taking the time to give back to our community for great charitable causes, like the Guadalupe Center.
