Guadalupe Centers Honor Royals
On the heels of the success of the club’s inaugural “Viva Los Royals” event, the Kansas City Royals are being recognized for all their work and contributions to the Kansas City Latino community this season.
The Guadalupe Centers, Inc (GCI) has named the Royals as the Business of the Year and will present the ball club with the award during GCI’s 21st Annual “Blanco y Negro” Awards Gala on Friday evening at the Marriott Muehlebach Hotel in downtown Kansas City.
On Friday, Sept. 7, the “Viva Los Royals” celebration at Kauffman Stadium raised more than $8,000 for the Guadalupe Center through ticket and T-shirt sales (Did you get your “Viva Los Royals” tee? They are still on sale in the team store…) and helped get the word out about this great organization.
Along with a strong presence at “Viva Los Royals,” Royals Charities also contributed to the Latino community with its third annual Royals Charities Back to School Drive on Aug. 8. The event, which collected school supplies before the Royals played the Minnesota Twins that evening, benefited Our Lady of Guadalupe Elementary School in Kansas City, Mo.
