Lineups: Buddy Bell at Legends Luncheon

Img_0852Before making his way to the ballpark Wednesday, Buddy Bell stopped by the Madrid Theater for the fifth and final State Farms Legends Luncheon of the season. Buddy joined former Major League pitcher Rick Sutcliffe and luncheon co-hosts (and former Royals) Willie Wilson and Al Fitzmorris for some baseball-talk. Buddy and Fitz, who played against each other in the 1970s before becoming Cleveland teammates in 1977, swapped stories and then the entire panel fielded questions from the audience. Buddy, who is stepping down as manager at the end of the year, talked a lot about the positive direction the team is headed, including making a pretty confident statement about Alex Gordon being one of the top defensive third basemen in the league. That statement coming from Buddy, who happened to be a six-time Gold Glove third baseman in his playing days, was pretty encouraging to hear…

Meanwhile, speaking of Gordon, he is back in the lineup tonight after taking a night off to rest his knee. On the mound for the Royals is Brian “Banny” Bannister (12-8, 3.39 ERA), while the White Sox turn to Jose Contreras (9-16, 5.81 ERA). Here are the rest of the lineups…

I have noticed that you guys don’t get nearly the volume of comments that some of the other front-office blogs get (Dodgers, White Sox), but I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I enjoy reading your posts every day (even though most times I am a day late). As a media relations person for the Auburn Univ. baseball team, I find it very insightful to read this everyday – both to learn about the club and to see how our jobs differ. I am a life-long Mets fan but have followed the Royals and others just because of their blogs. Thanks for all you do.
