Hank Aaron Award Voting

Who leads the team in games played this season?**

Well, if you answered outfielder David DeJesus, you are right as David has logged playing time in 128 of the Royals 130 games in 2007.

“My priority was being on the field for 162 games,” he recently told mlb.com’s Conor Nicholl. “I want to be a guy that they can count on.”

Mission accomplished, right? Pretty sure that’s one reason why DeJesus has been chosen as Kansas City’s nominee for Major League Baseball’s Hank Aaron Award. This season, David has been one of the most consistent offensive players for the team. Through the first 128 games this season, the Royals have a 34-27 record when DeJesus, who has totaled 88 runs this season, scores and a 22-45 mark when he doesn’t cross home plate. He leads the club with 37 multi-hit games including 13 3-hit performances. He’s batting a solid .372 (16-for-43) with runners in scoring position and two outs. The offensive stat rambling could go on for the 27-year-old…

Fans can vote for DeJesus now through Sept. 14 for the award. The field is then narrowed down to 10 finalists and then fans are asked to vote again from Sept. 18-30 for their two top players – one from each league. The winners are presented the awards before Game 4 of the World Series. So, Royals fans, don’t forget to cast your ballots for David DeJesus as our 2007 Hank Aaron Award winner!
