NOTES: Royals Return Home…Tonight!
The team is back in town, facing Cleveland tonight with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. The Royals see the Indians for three games before welcoming the Detroit Tigers for a three-game set that begins Tuesday. Needless to say, there is a lot going on this homestand…here are some notes to get you started.
Sweeney in Omaha: Royals designated hitter Mike Sweeney will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha tonight. Sweeney is scheduled to start the first game of a doubleheader as the DH. First pitch at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium is at 5:35 p.m.
Mike Coolbaugh Silent Auction TONIGHT: Don’t forget your checkbooks if you are coming out to the game tonight. The second Royals Silent Auction to benefit the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund is from 5-8:30 p.m. behind Section 101-102 on the main concourse. You can check out all the one-of-a-kind items that will be available for bid here on royals.com.
Around the Stadium: Have you reviewed the plans for the upcoming renovations at Kauffman Stadium? Over near Gate A at The K are some large prints of the renovation plans including a completion timeline. Also, prior to the game today, HOK and the Royals will meet to unveil the model for the renovated stadium.
Zack is Back…in Rotation: Right-hander Zack Greinke takes the mound tonight for the Royals. Zack, who posted a 4-1 mark with a 3.54 ERA in 38 bullpen appearances this season, last started for the team on May 6. In 45 total appearances (seven starts) this season, Greinke is 5-5 with a 4.40 ERA.
Small Business Day at The K: Calling all area small business owners to Kauffman Stadium: the Royals are hosting Small Business Day at The K on Thursday, Aug. 30. Tickets are still available for the event, which includes a pre-game networking reception featuring General Manager Dayton Moore at 11:30 a.m. Contact the Royals Group Sales department at (816) 504-4473 if you are interested.
And, Finally…Wave for the Day: At a recent Royals game, Brooklyn McIntyre showed her excitement for the team! The 18-month-old from Ravena, Ohio, who was visiting relatives in El Dorado, Kan., took in the Royals game with her family and apparently really enjoyed joining in on “the Wave!” Thanks for sharing, McIntyre family!
