Royals Hold SECOND Silent Auction to Benefit Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund
On Friday, Aug. 10, we held a silent auction on the concourse during the Royals-Toronto game. The auction was held and completely benefited the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund. And – all thanks to those of you who came out and placed bids – we raised more than $5,500 for the Coolbaugh family, who lost Mike on Sunday, July 22, after he was struck in the back of the neck by a line drive while coaching first base during a game in North Little Rock, Ark. Mike, who played for the Omaha Royals in 2006, had just stepped in as the hitting coach for the Tulsa Drillers, the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, this season.
Well, when the Royals return to Kauffman Stadium to play the Cleveland Indians next Friday, Aug. 24, you have another chance to contribute to the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund by again bidding on one-of-a-kind Royals memorabilia. We will be holding a second silent concourse auction at this time, taking place in Section 101-102 on the main concourse inside Kauffman Stadium from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
And, in an effort to help the Coolbaugh family as much as we can, we are placing a handful of the unique items on an on-line auction that you can find on royals.com. The sale of each of these items will also benefit the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund, so check it out and place your bids.
