Lineups: Cookie Rojas Here
Cookie Rojas is at The K tonight for Cookie Rojas Bobblehead night (to the first 20,000 fans in attendance) and for the second of a four-game set against Toronto. As far as bobbleheads go this year, Cookie’s is the fourth of a five-bobblehead series that highlights the Royals Hall of Fame. The last bobblehead – Fred Patek – is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8. Here’s a photo of Cookie signing before tonight’s game…
If you can’t make it to the ballpark tonight, check out the RSTN broadcast of the game. Splitt and Bob will be stationed out in the Royals All-You-Can-Eat Seats for the broadcast, mixing work with All-You-Can-Eat perks!
Baseball news…the Royals optioned Ryan Shealy to Triple-A Omaha today. He had been on the D.L. since June 30 (retro to June 26) with a left hamstring strain and had just completed a 20-day minor league rehab assignment. Alright, here are your lineups….
For the Royals:
DeJesus – CF
Grud – 2B
Teahen – RF
Butler – DH
Gload – 1B
Gordon – 3B
Buck – C
Gathright – LF
Pena – SS
Nunez – P
For the Blue Jays:
Johnson – LF
Overbay – 1B
Rios – RF
Wells – CF
Thomas – DH
Glaus – 3B
Hill – 2B
Zaun – C
McDonald – SS
McGowan – P

Glad to see Buddy Bell is finally using a consistant lineup. I like the fact that Butler is batting fourth with protection behind him. He is a run producer. Teahen has been a little inconsistant, but still provides a punch.
However, I agree with Grud in the fact that Gathright should be at leadoff now. Dejesus should bat third. Maybe the following lineup could be used to maximize protection for batters and provide opportunity for the top of the order:
Gathright LF
Grudzi 2B
Dejesus CF
Butler DH
Teahen RF
German 3B
Gordon 1B
Buck C
Pena SS
More production from the lead off hitter; more RBI opportunity for Dejesus and Teahen; Protection still for Teahen from German; Protection for Gordon from Buck; and Pena setting the table for the top of the order.
For the pitching rotation, kudos on the Nunez decision. Bannister is really starting toi hit his stride. Meche probably needs a rest. Davies will eventually get better as he matures. Then there is Odalis Perez. Why is he still starting? Can De La Rosa please take his place when he returns. Perez received a healthy contract, but if we want to win games make the change.
The bull pen is awesome!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Let’s Go ROYALS!!!!
