Royals Hall of Fame Blood Drive Results

Royals_thank_you_linkWell, the final numbers are in:

  • More than 1,800 registered donors.
  • Approximately 3,111 units of red blood cells produced.
  • A 25 percent increase in average weekly units collected.

To quote Mary Kelley, the marketing manager for the Kansas City Community Blood Center, “We hit this one out of the park!”

The 15th annual Royals Hall of Fame Blood Drive was a huge success and helped to make a big impact on the area’s blood supply for the summer, a time of year that usually sees a decrease in blood donations. The numbers collected at the fixed sites, which spanned from the Greater Kansas City area to Topeka and Lawrence, Kan., and St. Joseph and Jefferson City, Mo., and the mobile drives during the five-day drive easily topped the goals set for this year. On behalf of the Royals and the Community Blood Centers, thanks for coming out and supporting the drive, Royals fans. Especially those of you who found time to come out on Tuesday, July 24, to donate and congratulate Denny Matthews on his recent honor in Cooperstown!

It’s just after noon in Kansas City, but pretty quiet around here. However, with less than three hours to go until the trade deadline hits, there’s a chance things will get noisy soon…
