Lineups: All-Star Meche

All-Star Gil Meche takes the mound for the Royals today in the series opener against his former team, the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners, who are under new management as of yesterday afternoon and are cruising with an eight-game winning streak, will pitch ace Felix Hernandez.

Great pitching match up…winning streak on the line…new manager in the dugout…facing an old team…All-Star status in the air…here are today’s lineups.

How was this line up put together? Dartboard? Bingo set? Lottery Picks?

Granted none of these guys are scary to pitch to . . . but could they be if the line up was stable and had some kind of sense to it? Buck’s recent slide can probably be attributed to Pena and Gathright hitting behind him. Gordon is comming around why not try him out at the 4 spot? Why can’t gathright lead off and Dejesus bat 2nd? Why can’t Buck be the DH when Butthead Bell wants to trot ole Larue out behind the plate?

Will it ever change?
